Outside Plant (OSP) Inspector

We are looking for OSP Inspectors to work within the Beaverton, Gresham, and Portland Metro exchanges. The incumbent monitors and performs quality inspections of work completed by OSP Construction placing crews and splicers. Candidates need to live in the area and willing to travel within a region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Reviews contractor invoices for appropriate construction unit reporting, including appropriate units, footages, proper account codes and required documentation of work completed; •Supports placing and splicing crews in meeting schedule milestones and budget/contract requirements of projects. Provide timely documentation and communication with Engineering and Construction Management Teams on project status and recommendations for cost saving design and methods; •Makes recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies due to knowledge of or experience in environmental conditions, construction access by crews, or congestion of utilities; •Understands and actively participates in the best method of design, permitting, traffic control, safety setup and construction practices and procedures to support the requirements of the project’s contract scope of work; •Ensures all work performed follows standard company procedures/practices and local, state, and national electrical, safety and occupational codes, policies, and practices; •Determines and executes correct procedures for both OSP fiber optic and copper cable splicing, termination, testing, and documentation; •Monitors that accurate and readable construction as-built information is recorded daily; •Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
•Minimum of two years OSP construction experience. 2-year Associate Degree or 4-year BS/BA Degree in construction management or engineering is desired, or an acceptable equivalency in education and/or experience; •Experience in OSP construction lead responsibility/project in-charge is desired; •Experience in aerial, buried and underground construction methods and fiber and copper splicing is desired; •Supervisory and construction project management experience a plus; •Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or construction work print/diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables; •Must be able to pass a Background Check, Drug Screen; •Must possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record with proof of insurance; •Requires use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement

QC Engineer - FTTH

We are looking for a Quality Control (QC) Engineer – FTTH who will be responsible for the quality review of all OSP Engineering Design projects and programs, including but not limited to, FTTH work order packages. Previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience, along with working knowledge of Frontier software systems. The ideal candidate will have expert level experience with Customer Quality Control (QC) metrics, work print design, and other measures to ensure first time acceptance.

Duties & Responsibilities: •Perform Quality review on all assigned OSP Engineering Design packages; •Ensure that all Aerial Underground and Buried cable designs have been reviewed and analyzed for the most cost-effective solutions and placement; •Verify that the Customer scope of work or plan was followed; •Verify that all existing underground and aerial facilities are correctly located per customer records, city records, and per field notes; •Identify missing and or incorrect design information; •Communicate quality issues with the engineer and engineering manager to find resolution; •Ensure current design is the most effective and efficient plan to follow; •Ensure designs in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines

Qualifications/Skills Requirements: •Experience with the following fiber technologies, FTTH; •Should have strong understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BIC) and manhole and conduit design; •Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2); •Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat; •Working knowledge of Google Earth; •Highly organized, self-starter, and detail oriented; •High school diploma or GED equivalent. 3+ years of OSP engineering experience

COE Engineer

We are seeking individuals with a telecom COE (Central Office Equipment) engineering background. A qualified candidate is required to possess telecom equipment knowledge pertaining to current industry systems. This individual would be responsible for the creation of Detail Engineering Designs for Telecom technologies including but not limited to Ethernet routers, transport ROADM and packet optical nodes, DSLAM technologies, Metro-Ethernet customer equipment, and FTTH Nokia OLT and NG4 deployments.

CAD/GIS Drafter

The individual in this position is responsible for producing Outside Plant (OSP) GIS designs and associated work package documents in coordination with other engineering department personnel. NOTE: Remote reporting will be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities: Qualified individuals should be experienced in reading and understanding utility or telecommunications cable systems and associated OSP documents. While having great drawing skills, speed, and quality control; candidates must meet and follow company and business unit directives and practices. Telecom experience preferred, but training can be provided.

The OSP Fielder Fielder will perform a variety of tasks in support of outside plant design for various telecommunication installations at customer sites. This individual should have a basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in electrical, telecom and/or civil field work and will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Duties & Responsibilities: Travel to commissioned work sites in the Seattle Market and survey telecom assets such as:
o Utility poles (such as attachment heights, pole height, pole condition, location, pole tag, photos)
o Terrestrial assets (such as location and photos of vaults, pedestals, outdoor cabinets, ADA ramps)
o Street lamps (such as attachment heights, location, photos); May be responsible for jurisdictional and/or customer contact to obtain permission to visit the commissioned locations; May also be responsible for drawing up schematics immediately following a field survey; Understand and strictly adhere to safety practices and guidelines; Ensure safety when working near streets, utility infrastructure and appropriate interaction with the public; Understand and strictly adhere to established company and customer quality requirements without deviation, Communicate with team members daily; Prepare and submit final report of completion in activity management system, daily; Other duties as assigned by management

Sr OSP Engineer - Road Move (Conflict Mitigation)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Road Move Engineer to work in the Snohomish County or Remotely.

Duties & Responsibilities: This position must have work experience in all technical aspects of designing OSP fiber and copper plant and work as a team member with OSP Design Engineers. The successful candidate is responsible for the field design and layout of OSP (Outside Plant) telecommunications network to include aerial, buried and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, manhole/handhole, building entrance and riser facilities, utility, road and railroad crossings and other complex Right-of-Way (ROW) issues. Candidates should be familiar with engineering in the public ROW and on private property. Other responsibilities of this position include researching plats and ROW dimensions at various municipalities, contact existing gas and electric companies for verification of facilities and fully assess a cost-effective route. Aerial experience coordinating between telecommunications companies and electric companies is a requirement as well. Candidates must possess the ability to meet or exceed business unit goals, maintain quality standards, control expenses, and follow company and business unit directives and practices.
